As of today I have 5 pieces at the Carmel Art Gallery at 196 Bank Street, Ottawa. 

 

I am hoping that this will be the beginning to launch my artist career.

I have been expanding my interests now I am dabbling in paper cardmaking and scrapbooking, painting - acrylics and needlefelting.

I see much more variety in my future and some mixed media projects.  However my first love is still glass fusion.  I will be adding new photos soon so keep coming back.

It has taken me almost a week to get over standing in the cold of Mother's day at ArtsPark and I would do it again in a heartbeat.  I met some incredible people and made a few sales.  The music by the Herb Girls was rockin and kept me bopping to stay warm.

 

Next show is Red Roof Women Music Festival near Marlbank.

I will be at ArtsPark 2009 located behind the Parkdale Market.  Please come out and see the new work and old favorites.  There will be lots of eye candy and things to purchase - arts and free entertainment.

 

ArtsPark takes place in Parkdale Park, adjacent to the Parkdale Market, on Armstrong Street near the intersection of Parkdale Avenue and Wellington Street, Ottawa. If you're driving, exit the Queensway (417) at Parkdale and go north; from the Ottawa River Parkway, exit at Parkdale. There is parking on nearby streets, some space at the Market itself and lots at Holland Cross and Tunney's Pasture. Buses 2, 6, 16 and 18 serve the area regularly and the Bayview O-Train stop isn't far away.

I spent last weekend at the The Red Roof Women's Music Festival and it was awesome. 

Amazing musicians, awesome space, food was great something for everyone.  I vote for doing it again.

 

I met Christine Martucci from New Jersey she totally rocked the place in the aftenoon...heroines are Melissa Etheridge and Janis Joplin check her out at:

 

Right after that I went to see Melissa Etheridge on the 22nd and as always she was phenominal.

A very urban village fair in Hintonburg's QUAD arts district presented by Euphoria, Beament Green and the Hintonburg Community Association

Every year, people tell us they look forward to ArtsPark and we know why. It's a low-key, one-day outdoor festival of art, music, performance... it's free... and it's fun for everyone in your family. (Don't forget it's Mothers' Day too.)

Join us Sunday 11 May 2008 from 10am to 4pm at Parkdale Market (Parkdale Avenue at Armstrong Street in the heart of Hintonburg's QUAD arts district). Browse the work of local jewellery, textile and clothing designers, see displays from QUAD artists, get lit at the Poetry Factory, have a bite to eat and enjoy the talent of scores of musicians and performers.

Yes it is spring finally in the capital.  The crocus are blooming - tulips, daffodils and iris are beginning to sprout.  It will be very pretty here soon.  Tempuratures are in the 20's while Calgary and parts of British Columbia are getting snow - crazy weather patterns lets hope it is not us in a couple of weeks.  I continue to get ready for festival season.  I will be at Artspark on May 11th at the park behind the Parkdale Market from 10 to 4pm.  This event has boasted 3000 people wandering through the event.  Looking forward to it.

My cateract surgery has been completed and am now just waiting to see what the final outcome will be in 6 weeks.  Right now I am wearing drug store magnifiers so my sight has greatly improved since the surgery. 

 

I have been busy working on new pieces for the new shows coming up in May, June and July.  I am most proud of my Goddesses that I am creating everyday. Each one is unique and very popular.  Sensual is a word that has been used to describe the goddesses.

 

It is always nice to get feedback.

On March 9, 10 and 11 I had the opportunity to take another class from my mentor Patty Gray http://www.pattygray.com/.  It was a more advanced advance class in glass fusing.  Her relaxed style and willingness to share makes her one of the most sought after teachers in the business.  I left there with 11 pieces and  totally inspired to do more creative pieces.

 

Then on the 19th I had cateract surgery on my right eye so I have been down and out for about 5 days now and am looking forward to the next stage the left eye on April 1st.

 

I am hoping to get into two sales in May.

As I reflect on the past year it has been a creative time for me. 

 

I am looking forward to the time this year to explore new techniques for working with glass. I am taking an advanced class with my mentor Patty Gray in March. I am so excited she will be bringing new techniques and we will get to build pattern bars, combing of hot glass and incorporating these into bowls etc. 

 

I also want to redo the photographs of my glass so viewers can see the real beauty of the work.  

 

Tomorrow I will be selling at a College looking forward to interacting with students.
